OEC Background Check

The Office of Early Childhood is partnering with the 2-1-1 Child Care to provide this free digital fingerprinting service for child care provider staff, volunteers, and household members who are required to complete a comprehensive background check at least every five years.

Covid-19 safety requirements for  all appointments.

If you are currently sick or experiencing any symptoms associated with Covid-19,  you must delay scheduling an appointment until you have been symptom-free for at least 14 days.  If you feel sick on the day of your appointment, do not come!  Call 1-800-500-1000 to cancel. Upon your arrival you will be required to:

  1. Submit to no-touch temperature scan. Anyone with an elevated temperature will be asked to reschedule their appointment once their temperature has normalize. Anyone refusing the temperature scan will not be admitted into the building.
  2. Wear a mask that covers your nose and mouth at all time.
  3. Maintain the required social distancing protocols.
  4. Only the person being fingerprinted will be allowed into the building. The only exceptions to this are: someone acting as an interpreter, someone accompanying a minor (age 16 or 17 only), or someone providing medical assistance services to the person being fingerprinted.

Sessions are held across the state!  To learn about hosting a session at your Center, please email fingerprinting@ctunitedway.org, or call 1-800-505-1000.

Individuals who are required to complete a background check through the Office of Early Childhood must submit four things:

  1. Complete an“Authorization for Release of Information from DCF” form,
  2. Read the three sections of “FBI Privacy Notices” and sign the form,
  3. Fingerprints, preferably digital
  4. Pay the processing fee. OEC is paying this fee for fingerprints submitted digitally or postmarked by April 1, 2022 or until the allocated funds are exhausted, whichever happens first.

You can fulfill the first two requirements right here by completing these online versions of the DCF form and FBI Privacy Notices document. When you are done, you can schedule an appointment to get fingerprinted digitally at no cost.
