Referrals to CPR, First Aid & Administration of Medication vendors

CPR

2-1-1 Child Care has referrals to instructors/agencies that  offer CPR courses that meet the approval of the Office of Early Childhood Licensing Division. Currently, the Licensing Division accepts curriculum from: American Red Cross, American Heart Association, American Safety and Health Institute, Medic First Aid, and National Safety Council.  All licensed child care centers shall have at least on (1) staff member present at all times who has current certification in CPR.   It is the responsibility of the child care program to verify with the course instructor/agency that the course is appropriate for the ages of the children within your program.

Locations and cost of the course will vary.

 

First Aid

2-1-1 Child Care has referrals to instructors/agencies that report offering First Aid courses of emergency treatment that has been approved by the Division of Licensing as listed in section 19a-79-4a(e) of the Regulations of Connecticut State Agencies. All courses must be a minimum of six (6) hours in length. It is required that all licensed Family Day Care Providers be certified in First Aid. Child Care Centers and Group Day Care Homes must have present at all times at least one staff member that is First aid and CPR certified.

Please note: The instructors/agencies offering First Aid courses must have submitted documentation to the Office of Early Childhood Licensing Division for approval of their curriculum to offer the First Aid courses to child care providers.  It is the responsibility of the child care program to verify with the course instructor/agency that the course you sign up for is appropriate for the children within your program.

Administration of Medication

2-1-1 Child Care has referrals to  Administration of Medication Courses in Connecticut. Certification consists of administering oral, topical and inhalant medications and is valid for three (3) years. Administering injectable medications, including epi-pen, is valid for one (1) year.

Training Requirements: The instructor shall be a physician, physician assistant, advanced practice registered nurse or registered nurse. It is the responsibility of the child care program to verify with the course instructor/agency that the course you sign up for is appropriate for the children within your program.
